In 1983 Kenny Gates and Michel Lambot founded [PIAS]. At first [PIAS] distributed records only in Belgium, but since the foundation of the European Union in they saw opportunities to expand their horizons and settle [PIAS] also in other European countries.  They don’t stop at the borders of Europe. Around the globe they make partners. So meanwhile [PIAS] has offices in the Netherlands, UK , Germany, France, Spain, Greece , US, Australia, Austria, Hong Kong, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Scandinavia, South Africa  and Switzerland .

In 2007 Gates and Lambot announced a major re-branding program under the identity of [PIAS] Entertainment Group.  The group presents from now on a broad range of services, partnerships and repertoire on an international basis that meets the changing demands of the market.  

September 1, 2008 Bang! and [PIAS] decided to co-operate. All departments merged as well. Damien Waselle (co-founder of Bang!) is now head of the promotion- and marketing teams.

Up until now the headquarters of [PIAS] Entertainment Group is located in Brussels, Belgium. [PIAS] has evolved in different sub labels. Each sub label has its own specialty.

[PIAS] Entertainment Group is become very active in the audio-visual field. That is why [PIAS] considered a specialized label for this: [PIAS] Visuals, [PIAS] Comedy and TWIN PICS.

In 2004 [PIAS] Entertainment Group obtains the European distribution rights for all visual formats of the UEFA 2004 European Football Championship™.  Because of the huge success [PIAS] Visuals was launched, focusing entirely on visual formats, and specializing in sport and football in particular.

[PIAS] Comedy was created in [PIAS] Holland in 2005. Later the label expanded to Belgium.  Whilst [PIAS] Comedy successfully releases dvd’s and support local acts. Some of the artists signed (licensing and/or distribution) are: Adriaan Vanden Hoof, Alex Agnew, Bert Kruismans, Freddy De Vadder,  Freek De Jonge, Gili, Gunter Lamoot, Han Solo, Hans Teeuwen, Henk Rijckaert, Iwein Segers, Jeff Dunham, Kamagurka, Kommil Foo, Najib Amhali, Neveneffecten, New Kids, Nigel Williams , Pablo Francisco, Ronald Goedemondt, Sara Kroos, Ter Bescherming van de Jeugd, Theo Maassen, Thomas Smith, Umbilical Brothers, Wim Helsen, Wouter Deprez and Xander De Rycke.

In 2004 film distributor Cinéart and music distributor [PIAS] joined forces to create TWIN PICS, a joint venture specialized in the distribution of DVD’s. TWIN PICS leans on the distribution network and the logistic infrastructure provided by [PIAS] to put the DVD’s of films acquired by Cinéart in the market.

[PIAS] Sync & Brand operates out of Brussels offices. “Bespoke”, [PIAS] Sync & Brand new service, tailors music for specific projects. For example an ad campaign, feature film score or even video game soundtrack.

[PIAS] Recordings is the in house label of [PIAS] Entertainement Group.  The home of direct artist signings, like Soulwax/2Many DJ’s, Junior Jack, Miossec,…  And international licensed acts, like Editors, Nouvelle Vague, Dinosaur Jr, Morcheeba, Ojos de Brujo, … [PIAS] Recordings has an electronic label: DIFFERENT. The aim of this label is to bring the sound of talented artists to a wider audience. DIFFERENT is the home label of Tiga, Vitalic, MSTRKRFT, …
