MILAGRES (Memphis Industries)

Brooklyn five-piece Milagres release their new album ‘Glowing Mouth’ via Memphis Industries today too! (160112).

Earning tons of press love at the moment, Milagres (Portuguese for ‘miracles’, or so the interweb tells me) are being mentioned in the same breath as Wild Beasts, Tears For Fears (ask your mum), Billy Mackenzie and The Associates (ask your uncle-who’s-not-really-your-uncle) and Coldplay (but don’t let that put you off!).

Their website is here, CLICK!

And, for reasons that shall become apparent, your humble web monkey shall now share not one, but TWO Milagres videos, for these (and i’m sure you’ll agree dear reader) Very Good Reasons.

1) In the first video, a young lady seems to achieve some kind of higher / altered states communion with either a cat, or a cat-like deity, after mixing up some DIY juju bad medicine in her bathtub. Stay in school kids, drugs are bad. Or stay on drugs, schools are bad – depending on where you stand on the matter.

2) In the second video, an acoustic version of ‘Here To Stay’, the band are filmed (in a gorgeous Hipstamatic / Tilt Shift stylee) playing in the concrete canalized environs of the LA River, legendary location for films as disparate as ‘Chinatown’, ‘Purple Rain’, ‘Drive’, ‘Point Break’, ‘Terminator 2′, ‘Grease’ and the mighty mighty ‘Repo Man’.

ENJOY.

TRAILER TRASH TRACYS (Double Six)

Woozy London dreampop quartet Trailer Trash Tracys’ debut longplayer ‘Ester’ is out now (on Double Six). Garnering comparisons to Mazzy Star, The Jesus & Mary Chain, Young Marble Giants, Warpaint and Angelo Badalamenti’s work on ‘Twin Peaks’, Trailer Trash Tracys’ have attracted a bunch of online press love – see Addict Music HERE for an interview and a couple of Soundcloud clips, a Drowned In Sound review HERE and a review from the Guardian, HERE.

The band – who have previously shared the stage with The xx and The Kills, are due to tour with The Vaccines, The Maccabees and perform at a ‘Next Big Thing’ showcase with labelmates Eugene McGuinness and Frànçois & The Atlas Mountains at London’s Barfly on Friday 3rd February.

Here’s a taste; Enjoy!

Aaaaand….. In a stroke of pure mad genius, TTT / Double Six have asked visionary avant-afro-naut (and a HUGE personal favourite of your humble web monkey) James Ferraro to ‘do a remix’.

Ooooh – be still my simian pituitary glands!

More Tips For ’12 to follow!

Adieu for now…
