The Hickey Underworld

The launch of their own line of perfume, contraction of freaky ear diseases, an adult website and some extensive plastic surgery, The Hickey Underworld has been very busy since their debut album came out almost 3 years ago. It even looked like there was not going to be another album, but guess what? There is! Crazy! Awesome! Wack!

It’s called ‘I’m Under The House, I’m Dying’. Produced by Das Pop, mixed by Dave Sardy. It’s got flutes on it and shit.

TOM SMITH Part time Funny Looking Angel but mainly the charismatic frontman from EDITORS, who recently surprised us all with a Christmas album. In 2012 the band will start work on the follow-up to their platinum-selling album ‘In This Light And On This Evening’. With #1 hits like ‘Papillon’ and ‘No Sound But The Wind’ EDITORS is one of the biggest recent [PIAS] success stories. DAAN winnaar van de Vlaamse culttuurprijs voor muziek 2010-2011

Daan kreeg de jaarlijkse prijs uitgereikt door Vlaams minister van Cultuur Joke Schauvliege in de Brusselse Ancienne Belgique tijdens de tiende editie van Muzikantendag.
De jury roemde Daan als ‘een artistieke duizendpoot waar je de voorbije jaren niet omheen kon’, een kameleon die zichzelf blijft heruitvinden, ‘van avant-garde of jazz, over stuwende disco en hete electro, tot pure pop of catchy chanson in de beste country- of croonertraditie’. Het feit dat Daan alle aspecten van het ‘artiest’ zijn wil beheersen, van componeren over vertolken tot het ontwerpen van artwork, zette de keuze van de jury kracht bij.

In mei van dit jaar beleefde de SIMPLE tournee, waarbij Daan samen met Isolde Lasoen en Jean Francois Assy akoestische versies uit zijn omvangrijke repertoire bracht, zijn apotheose in het Brusselse Flagey gebouw. Dit concert is nu uitgebracht als DVD + CD pakket met als klinkende titel ‘CONCERT’.

De laatste kans om DAAN in ‘Simple’ bezetting mee te maken is op 17/12 in het Koninklijk Circus te Brussel.

Last year there were the Red Bull Elektropedia Vanguard Awards who were given to some of the biggest Belgian dance icons, this year Red Bull Elektropedia, along with Studio Brussel, introduce the Red Bull Elektropedia Awards: 13 awards in all kinds of categories such as “Best DJ”, “Best Producer”, “Best track”, Best Remix” etc. A professional jury has nominated the artists while the public was invited to vote. The awards have been handed just before the start of I Love Techno 2011 this Saturday in Ghent.
