Celebrate the holidays with festive releases from Smith & Burrows, Julia Jacklin, The Cribs & more!

“The perfect song for Christmas 2020” – James Corden on Smith & Burrows’ classic Christmas tune, ‘When The Thames Froze’. Almost a decade old, this song means more and more each year – it’s truly one of the best Christmas tracks out there and one of our ultimate favourites, so you can imagine how thrilled we were to see this treasured duo deliver a special Christmas performance on The Late Late Show with James Corden. This forever classic was taken from the pair’s 2011 album, Funny Looking Angels – enjoy the utterly heart-warming rendition…

…surely that performance has fuelled your festive feels, but if not we know exactly what will do the trick – Independent Music Monday’s Christmas Edition Playlist, featuring a mind-boggling, staggeringly-impressive compilation of holiday tracks from 2020 and the years prior. Included is The Cribs’ festive anthem ‘Christmas (All Year Long)’, which had been previously only made available as a very limited edition flexi disc.

Another favourite of ours to feast your ears upon is Julia Jacklin’s ‘baby jesus is nobody’s baby now’ – check out the video which Jacklin co-directed with Nick Mckk.

While Dropkick Murphys released their cover of Darlene Love’s festive classic ‘Christmas (Baby Please Come Home),’ Black Puma’s released their take on Lou Rawls’ ‘Christmas Will Really Be Christmas’, as part of Spotify’s exclusive holiday singles.

Looking for a hug? Aren’t we all in 2020. Well Circa Waves described their festive release, ‘Miss Christmas’ as “a warm Christmassy cuddle to tide you over till Covid gets chinned out it’s shoes in 2021.”
