KOKOKO! Present a Fresh, Uncompromising Showcase of their Debut Album with the Release of ‘Fongola Instrumentals’
Here we go – 2021. To say we’ve got a plethora of new, incredible music coming your way this year is quite frankly an understatement and we’ve got the perfect kick-starter for these bigger, better, and brighter times ahead! We’re thrilled to share the exciting news of a new album from Congolese electronic collective KOKOKO!
A follow-up to the critically-acclaimed 2019 debut ‘Fongola’, this new instrumental album puts the incredible musicality of KOKOKO! on full, uncompromising show. Due out on February 5th, 2021 ‘Fongola Instrumentals’ displays the uniquely self-crafted instrumentation and DIY spirit of this entrancing 5-piece.
The group’s impeccably assembled beats and hyper-distinctive blend of organic and electronic pulsing grooves made their debut outing one of the alternative world’s most gripping of recent times, with an energetic and captivating live show to match. Just take a look back at their KEXP session…
Handmade in Kinshasa, DRC ahead of their 2019 world tour, KOKOKO! built 8 bespoke 12″ “playable sleeves” to house the upcoming ‘Fongola Instrumentals’ white label release.
Built by the band in their workshop, there are only 8 editions worldwide of the stringed metal contraptions, with just 7 made available in key worldwide independent stores, alongside a strictly limited run of white-label vinyl (300-only). They will be given away randomly to purchasers of the white label during the week of release in selected independent stores globally.
For those that don’t get so lucky upon release day, the album will be available to enjoy across all streaming platforms on the same day (Friday, Feb 5th).
