Ruxley's new single 'i'll miss you (this christmas)' is out today, giving us a heartfelt Christmas song about longing and loss
The British singer/songwriter Rupert Blackman, aka Ruxley, has released his brand new Christmas single ‘i’ll miss you (this christmas)’ today. The single follows on from his previous singles ‘this song shouldn’t exist’ which became viral on TikTok earlier this year, and ‘january rain’.
Speaking about the new track, Ruxley says: “For most, Christmas is one of the happiest times of year, but if someone close to you is missing it can be one of the hardest. ‘i’ll miss you (this christmas)’ is a song in its rawest form, all about exactly that; missing someone at Christmas time.”
Ruxley takes his name from a small place near where he grew up in Kent, though he is now based in the Netherlands. Love was what brought him to Amsterdam, where he started off busking in the street and selling homemade CDs, and eventually found success as the lead vocalist in Causes, who released a string of hit singles via [PIAS] Recordings, including the platinum-selling ‘Teach Me How to Dance With You’.
After Causes disbanded, Ruxley returned to the UK and began writing with other artists, including Callum Scott, Martin Garrix, JC Stewart, Bülow, Mae Muller & Sam Tompkins. When Covid hit he found himself swept back to Holland where he now makes his home with his young family.
